Sentosa + ACM = Family Love
Friday, June 12, 2009

With the sunlight in my eyes, all I can see are stars and not the banal humdrums of life.

I went for a great family outing today! And, took many pictures! :D Heehee! But my phone almost died on me, but it was faithful and held out till I took enough photos. Sorry in advance for the poor quality on some of the pictures. Trust me, I did retakes umpteen times and still couldn't get a good one either because of my shaky hand or because of the horrible lighting in the museum.

First off, we all woke up at 9am. Well, actually me only. Everyone else woke up pretty early for some reason. So I had my breakfast of pancakes and maple syrup, all from Aunt Jemima's brand. My sister had them too. So we all planned to go out because everyone was at home. My mum has been dying to see the new Kang Xi exhibits in the ACM for a long while now so today was the day!

But first, we went off to Sentosa's Underwater World! :D It had a new Isopod exhibit which is really cool! So we drove there, figuring that the parking fee at Sentosa would be much cheaper than parking at Vivo and taking cable car/bus to Sentosa. When we reached the gantry, my parents were really funny. They were fiddling with cash and cards because the fee was only $10 for all of us. My mum took out $50 in advance and so was struggling to find smaller change. Then the gantry operator told us the fee was deducted using the cashcard. So, my dad too out the card to pass it to my mum to have the gantry operator tell us that he already deducted the fee. Heehee, I think we're just one big family of jokers. Even the gantry officer was smirking to himself when we passed.

We went to park at the beach station and then got lost once we went by foot. In the end, we went in the right direction but it still took us quite long to reach the food court and there were tons of people there too. Apparently, it was some large gathering of Primary School students with a similar sized group some University Undergrads. They were blasting HSM songs. Which I inevitably sang and danced to the tunes. My parents were shaking their heads and my sister tried to get as far away as possible. I seriously can't help it! I think I'm an addict of some sort. o.O Once we had our fill, we went off to the bus station to catch a bus to the Underwater World attraction.

The first stop was the "petting" zone? We got to touch the fishes, sharks and rays. It's really weird touching a fish, especially a ray! It's really slimy. Seriously, I love animals and mean no disrespect but they felt weird. Maybe I need to get used to them and I haven't really touched a marine animal in quite some time. There were actually machines which dispense food for the rays for $1 and you could feed them by hand. I didn't try to though. There mouths are huge! And they seriously just grab the things straight from your hand. I saw some other people feeding them and got freaked out. I'd rather feed a lion or something. Haha.

The next stop was the Sea Angels. They apparently belong to Class Gastropoda. They don't have eyes but they have sensory organs at the tip of their projections. They are really small! Like a few millimeters in length. And they swim by flapping their "wings" which make them look like angels. I found a really nice picture of one, because I didn't get one of my own. They're so cute!

Next up were the crabs! I saw the giant Spider Crab first. It's huge! And one even stood up to let me see it's bottom! Took a picture of it too! Then there was a teeny tiny coconut crab hiding inside it's enclosure. It's seriously small, it could fit into my hands if I cupped them together. The ones I saw at CI'07 were way bigger! Then we saw a poor horseshoe crab. It died and was belly up. You could see all it's legs. It was really sad and some tiny catfish were taking refuge under it's shell. Didn't take a photo either.

Hmm, then we went to the isopod enclosure! Ok well, it was more of a fun exhibit where people could play in! It had a dome shaped opening where you could crawl in and look at the isopods close up. It was also a great photo-op! We hogged the place and took serveral! Haha! :D Then we moved on to the main attraction, the revolving dome exhibition where most of the marine life are feature. We took several photos there and went twice! Got bored of it though, and people were pushing and shoving. There were quite a few tour groups too. From Korea and China. We let them take pictures and got out of the way since they should have the priority. But some of them were seriously rude. I was talking to my sister about the fish and was taking a photo of it. Suddenly, this CHEENA man came up and bumped me aside. My photo went all blurry and stuff. And he hogged the place with his FAT @$$ for like 5 mins before he let me in again. Sheesh. We also got to view the feeding of the fish. They really SWARM in! The poor guy had to wrestle his way out to go to another area of the tank. He waved at us too!

We went out and we got this free tickets to go to Desperados! It's this really cool interactive game where you sit on a saddle and shoot at outlaws and drunken cowboys. I got 0 in the first round! Haha! :D They take pictures of the best and worst shooters and I got my face plastered with a donkey's face! But I reedeemed myself the second round! :D Hehee! :D I won the Sheriff's Badge because I got the most points in the game! Wahaha! My sister was second, my dad 3rd and my mum LAST! I LOVE MY FAMILY! Some how, we just all like our faces plastered on the screen. In the first round, my mum was first, my dad 2nd and my sis 3rd. So we all switched around for the second round! Wahahaha :D I still got the Sheriff's Gold Badge and everyone else got the Silver Deputy Sheriff's Badge.

Then we went to ride the Luge! It's our 2nd day of riding in our lives. This time, we posed for the camera shot! We got a diamond formation! :D We bought that photo and now we're showing it off to the world. I might have it scanned in so that I can set it as my desktop wallpaper. It's a really cool picture. Me and my sister were totally cam-whoring on the Sky Ride. Wahaha! :D I love those pictures! Straight after, we all stopped at Starbucks to get a quick drink. I got the Iced Caramel Latte, my sister got the Double Chocolate Ice Blended and my parents shared a plain Iced Latte. I got a major headache after that. I can't take in too much caffine. Haha! Either that, or I was majorly dehydrated. After that, everyone was poofed out but we still went to the Kang Xi Exhibits.

Arrived there and parking was yet again a mojr issue. But we were lucky and managed to secure a slot in around 15 minutes time of waiting. We had a special promotion price for a family of 4! We only had to pay $20. So we viewed most of the exhibits that were already on display and I took quite alot of photos there. It's cool to learn about ancient history. I'm always fascinated by the culture and literature of the ancient world, I don't really give a damn about the modern one though. Which is why I don't really like history classes, but love history itself.

Then we viewed the Kang Xi Exhibit. We weren't allowed to snap pictures, so sorry but if you want to see the exhibit, you should get tickets and go! It's really cool! :D They made it really modern so it's quite interactive. And they also had paper calculators back in the day! It could even cube root and log simple numbers! It's totally awesome. Shan't reveal too much, but that was what interested me the most! Freaking cool! :D And the 80m long scroll. That was awesome. It seriously was really cool! :D Ok, shall stop bragging. Shall upload pictures!

OK I'M DONE! :D Phew. That was tough. Anyway, after the museum, we went to eat MALA STEAMBOAT! Mmm... We went to the Beach Road one, since we passed by there earlier in the day. That one was SUPER FREAKING HOT! It drove me to tears just drinking that! I had to down 2 cups of coke! I almost went for the lime and aloe vera drink but firstly, the cost was $3.40 a cup! Secondly, it's acidic so it would hurt much more! And there was Soya Bean Milk on the menu but I don't like Soyabean. Bleh! Burned my tongue. Hope I don't get the runs early in the morning tmr!

Going to the park tomrrow with family again! Then everyone is going seperate ways later in the day. My parents are going to a wedding, lunch service. My sister is going to watch her coach's volleyball match and tennis later on. I'm going to watch HEARTBEAT with XY and maybe eating dinner as well. Heehee! Hectic day!

I"M SO TOTALLY ATTENDING THIS! :D

It's going to be a kick ass event!
